Change to Schedule: Sunday 23rd January

Please note that ALL ACTORS are now called from 14:00 for ensemble work. Let Anna Thomas know if you can't arrive on time

Helen Chadney will be coming in to experiment on some peoples' faces for the make-up.

From 14:00, the following people are required to work on interchange of scenes and also ensemble work within scenes.

   (1) Breakout - 4 People with torches: Mark C, Max, Sarada, Charlie

   (2) He Kills his mother - Tikiri & Carole - Carole brings on basket/washing when prison guards rush around the stage with torches. Tikiri & Carole - strangulation & removing the basket.

   (3) Under the Table - Family come on and set dinner table as Tikiri drags mother off in basket. The Family take off the table at the end of the scene.

   (4) Melancholy Detective - Sarada and Carole will be bring on stool & desk for Carole to sit at as the Family take off the dinner table. Sarada & Carole take stool/desk off as Siobhan runs onstage.

   (5) Brotherly Love - Mark C makes large gruesome hand shapes in front of a backstage light cast over the gauze (no monster costume anymore). Siobhan runs onto stage panicking that her brother is coming.

   (6) Metro - Max will be plays a train station cleaner - he sets bench, sweeps a tiny bit then walks off stage. This happens as Siobhan starts to make her way off the stage. John then appears. As Tikiri & John make way off the stage, Max sweeps again & takes the bench off; and as this is happening, the Family come out with plates and table-cloth. Mark & Charlie always carry the table in (Same scenario as before with taking table off). Max is in next scene - so he just wears an industrial jacket over evening-out wear as 'Bloke'.

   (7) Just before dying - ALL (except Max, Sarada, Tikiri & Mark C) are behind the chicken wire fences, encouraging the fight.

   (8) Delilah - Set during the interval. Charlie also comes on as police officer and takes off Siobhan. Dave takes chair and Simon takes Nobo board.

   (9) The Hostage - Mark C plays Park attendant. He brings on park bench whilst cleaning up. At end of the scene carries off bench, then realises there is a dead boy. Comes back on stage and drags Ciaran off.

   (10) It's a Deal - Mark C should have enough time to change costume. Sarada brings on clothes/stool & Carole brings on table (or vice versa). This can happen while Ciaran is dragged off stage.

   (11) Railway Station - Max brings on the railway bench. As this is happening four commuters come to front of the stage looking at the departure board: Sarada, John, Charlie & Maria. Then all four of them will stand behind gauze for the rest of scene motionless looking out.

   (12) Max re-appears telling Vanessa to go as the station is closing. Bench remains.

   (13) Ophelia - Max turns up again tapping the collapsed, homeless older sister (Angela) and tells her to leave station in an agressive way. He then takes the bench.

   (14) At the beginning of The Arrest - Mark C appears in doorway as Pimp. Siobhan and Sarada appear with Charlie: Sarada is instructing Siobhan what to do with her first client. Max then appears as another bouncer of the club. Other random people on stage make it look like a slightly busy night downdown. As Zucco is arrested, Charlie takes off Siobhan; Mark C and Sarada wander off together; Max goes into club; Everyone else also exits.

   (15) Zucco In The Sun - BIG FINALE. We all know this one by now! Everyone leaves the stage in some structure. Credits run. The End.

Get-In: Sunday 16th January

Some announcements from the Director:
  • The time for actors to turn up is now 5pm as Phil is coming down to take some shots for the SLT Backstage magazine.
  • Stuart has volunteered to help out with the costumes, i.e. making sure everyone has one on Sunday.
  • Please be ready for costume at about 5:30pm to ensure we start rehearsing no later than 6:30pm
  • On Sunday, the technical stuff actually begins at 2pm. We may not have the gauze by then, but we are planning to ensure that the doorways are up at the very least! So anyone that is sitting around bored on Sunday come along.

Happy New Year!

Just a quick reminder from Mark about changes to Sunday's rehearsal:

  • The first hour of rehearsal (from 16:00) will be VI Metro as previously planned.

  • Then we'll be recapping the scenes already rehearsed so that cast members can catch up on episodes they're not involved in.

  • The final phase of the rehearsal will cover the large ensemble piece X The Hostage, for which most of the cast will be required.

Please note that costume calls will take place during the duration of Sunday's rehearsal. Come ready to discuss your ideas for clothing and styling

On another note, whilst I was in France recently, I acquired a copy of the original text and some background material on Koltès (in French, before you ask). If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to lend it out.
